So I’ve seen this wonderful recipe shared several times over Facebook and Pinterest – a NO BAKE Strawberry Chocolate Tart (thanks to Home Cooking Adventure), that looked incredibly delicious…almost too good to eat! What I didn’t realize was how simplistic of a recipe it was.
I invited my sister-in-law to come over and make this recipe with me. With our wee little ones running around the house, we were afraid that we weren’t even going to have the time to do it. Somehow, though, we managed to begin the process.
The ingredients involved included: Oreos (for the crust), chocolate chips (milk chocolate and semi-sweet), heavy whipping cream, melted butter, strawberries, and if you want to get a little bit fancier – some chopped nuts (we used slivered almonds). I often have these in my food pantry and fridge anyways, so throwing this dessert together was easy peasy! I bought the rectangle tart pan from Amazon for less than $14 – great investment, in my opinion. A measuring cup that also measures in ounces is best with this recipe as well.
Here’s what you gotta do:
1.) Crush up 33 Oreos in a food processor – or if you have one, a Ninja blender. It worked like a charm!
2.) Add 1/2 cup of melted butter to the crushed Oreos, and blend some more.
3.) Once blended, scoop the mixture into the lightly greased tart pan and press the mixture down and around the sides to make a crust. Place in freezer.
4.) On medium heat, place 7 oz of heavy whipping cream in a saucepan. No need for it to boil, but make sure it’s hot, so it can melt the chocolate.
5.) Place 7 oz of milk chocolate chips and 3.5 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl. Once the whipping cream is finished heating, combine it with the chocolate chips and let sit for a minute to allow the chocolate to melt.
6.) Mix together until blended well.
7.) Get the Oreo crust out of the freezer and add the chocolate chip/cream mixture to the crust.
8.) Use 8-10 strawberries to top it off (and the optional almonds —If you notice in the video, she added the nuts at the end. We added them before we refrigerate.)
9.) Refrigerate for 2 hours.
This delicious treat is meant to be cool and refrigerated. If it’s left out, the filling will become softer and more liquid based.
We definitely recommend trying out this Strawberry Chocolate Tart at your next potluck get-together. It’s very easy to make, and it tastes like restaurant quality! We loved it, and we feel you will too!
