DIY Halloween Costumes

So I HATE spending money on costumes. They’re super expensive, especially since they’ll only be able to really wear them only once. Here are a few costume ideas some of my family members and I came up with that I wanted to share with you all. They’re easy and inexpensive.

When Halloween is over, I have a “Holiday Bin” that I put them in again, so that they can re-use them over and over again. Also, after Halloween, costumes and decorations are super duper cheap, so snag some awesome deals and then toss them in your own holiday bin for next year.

If I find more, I’ll be sure to add them to this post!

Clark Kent about to turn into Superman

I simply used his Sunday outfit and put his Superman shirt under it and let him use my fashion glasses. Perfect idea!

We used an old t-shirt, cut it up and sewed it up to fit my daughter. I found wings at a thrift store for $0.50!

Again, a family member cut up an old t-shirt, kept the collar to allow the child to easily put over their head to keep the cape on them. Then hot glued fun shapes on the back to personalize the cape.

Kid Pirates

I bought a pirate costume on clearance ($2.00) and kept it for the next year and it worked like a charm. I have been able to use this costume many, many times and it’s still being worn.

Simply using a button up white t-shirt, vest, wearing blue jeans (or black pants), with a belt, makes a great adult pirate costume.
