Easy Homemade Ice Cream

My family and I LOVE ice cream. I found this recipe on Pinterest, and decided to try it out for myself. Homemade Ice Cream: It’s super easy, oh-so delicious, and there’s very little clean up!! This is how I did it:

Ice cubes – fill one ziplock bag about half full
1 cup half & half
1/2 cup salt (table, or rock salt – I used extra coarse sea salt)
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 pint-size ziplock bags (I prefer the ‘zip closed’ ones.)

Mix the half & half, sugar, and vanilla extract in one pint-size ziplock baggie. Zip it shut.

Fill the OTHER pint-size ziplock baggie with ice cubes half-way, and the 1/2 cup of salt. Then put the other ziplock bag with the half & half mixture in it.

Start shaking vigorously for about 5 minutes (or until mixture is thick). Mind you, it will be cold, so wrap it in a cloth, if needed.

Once finished, take the ice cream mixture bag out of the ice/salt bag, and place in a coffee mug for easy handling. Open up bag and wrap the outside of it around the mug. Mix in chocolate or strawberry sauce, or any other toppings you desire.
